COACHES

Meet our PowerHockey Durham Coaches!

Joey Vocino

Joey is excited to join PowerHockey Durham’s coaching team. After years of watching his brother Matt play powerhockey in Toronto, Joey has seen the immense impact this sport has had on the lives of all involved, both on and off the court.

As an ice hockey player, Joey had great success progressing through the different ranks of competitive hockey in the Durham region. He grew up playing for his local Ajax/Pickering Raiders AAA program and was lucky enough to capture an OMHA and OHF gold medal. As a teenager, Joey played for his local Midget AAA hockey program, while also competing in Varsity Hockey at St. Mary Catholic High School. After graduating high school, he played three seasons of Junior Hockey in Ontario.

A successful junior hockey career allowed Joey to move to Canton, New York where he played three seasons for the SUNY Canton Kangaroos NCAA DIII Hockey Club. After graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, he pursued the Education program at Ontario Tech University. In 2020, Joey graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Education and is currently an Elementary School Teacher with the Durham District School Board.
